TRIPLE RELEASE: Whisky Sponge ED.96 & ED.97 & Secret Sponge ED.6 – Island Scotch Whisky Information

July twenty seventh, 2024

TRIPLE PRODUCT RELEASE

We’re launching Whisky Sponges Version 96 and 97 collectively as a pair of bottlings that commemorate two of our favorite and most lovely Whisky islands: Islay and Jura. We needed to search out two examples corresponding to these which have been each unpeated and – most crucially – had each spent their total lives maturing at their respective distilleries on their islands of origin. We spent fairly a very long time engaged on this mini undertaking and trying to find casks that ticked all these containers. We’re tremendous pleased with the outcomes and have bottled each as they arrived, at pure cask power.

WHISKY SPONGE ED.96 BRUICHLADDICH

The Bruichladdich is a 2005 1st fill barrel, it’s a splendidly wealthy, creamy and powerfully maritime instance. Waxy, peppery, sturdy, full-bodied and massively characterful with a great deal of distillery and Island character.

WHISKY SPONGE ED.97 JURA

The Jura is a 1994 refill hogshead and it’s traditional, long-aged refill matured Jura, very complicated, elegant, waxy, oily, mineral, natural and coastal. Evocative and superbly detailed outdated Island single malt.

These two bottlings symbolize the beginning of the ultimate run of Whisky Sponge bottlings on our method to Version No.100 and the tip of our Whisky Sponge sequence. All of the bottlings on this closing run are whiskies which symbolize distilleries, profiles and traits that we love and sit very near our hearts.

WHISKY SPONGE 6TH SECRET EDITION WILLIAMSON 10 YEAR OLD

That is the sixth, and closing, ‘Secret Sponge’ bottling. It’s a 2014, 10 12 months outdated Williamson single malt. This one is definitely a small batch whisky we’ve been watching fastidiously for a couple of years now. Over two years in the past, we mixed two hogsheads of this Williamson single malt and married that blend into an ex-Laphroaig refill butt. That is the primary, small managed bottling we’ve taken from this cask, the remaining we’ll possible bottle between 15 and 18 years of age. This can be a particular, small bottling at 57.1% and is a deeply highly effective, pure and expressive instance of this Islay make.
